Industry Leading Expert Witnesses
Clinical / Qualifying Experts
Clinical or qualifying experts are medical specialists who diagnose injuries, determine their cause, and provide opinions on negligence, causation, prognosis, and future medical needs. Their evidence establishes the clinical basis of the claim and establishes the nexus between the incident and the injury.
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Orthopaedic surgeons assess musculoskeletal injuries, including fractures, spinal injuries, amputations, and chronic conditions such as restricted movement or paralysis. Reports describe the nature and extent of the injury, resulting functional limitations, pain, and impact on activities of daily living and employment.
Plastic Surgeon
Plastic surgeons assess the physical and psychological effects of scarring or disfigurement caused by injuries or required surgical interventions. Evaluations determine the permanence of injury-related changes and their impact on appearance, function, and mental wellbeing. Reports include recommendations for reconstructive procedures and an assessment of functional and psychosocial consequences.
Neurosurgeon
Neurosurgeons manage the surgical treatment of injuries affecting the brain, skull, and spinal cord. They assess head and spinal injuries, including fractures, organic brain damage, and post-concussion syndromes. Reports detail surgical findings, interventions, and expected outcomes, as well as functional impact on cognition, mobility, and daily life.
Psychiatrist
Psychiatrists provide evaluations of psychiatric and emotional conditions resulting from injury, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis. Unlike psychologists, they can recommend pharmaceutical interventions, in-patient treatment, or ongoing psychiatric care. Reports describe the impact of these conditions on cognitive, social, and occupational functioning and may include serious injury evaluations (RAF4) when required.
Functional Experts
Functional experts assess how the injuries affect the claimant’s physical, cognitive, psychological, and daily functioning. They evaluate limitations in work capacity, activities of daily living, and quality of life, translating clinical injuries into functional real-world impact.
Clinical / Counselling Psychologist
Clinical psychologists assess the psychological and emotional sequelae of injury, including conditions such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other psychiatric conditions listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Their reports evaluate the impact of these conditions on cognitive, social, and occupational functioning. While their assessments provide comprehensive insight into the claimant’s mental health, they do not prescribe medication.
Neuro
Psychologist
Neuropsychologists perform comprehensive evaluations of cognitive and psychological functioning following head or brain injury. They compare post-injury performance to estimated pre-morbid baseline levels across domains such as attention, memory, executive functioning, visuospatial skills, and language. Reports determine whether cognitive outcomes are causally linked to injury or influenced by other pre-existing or current factors, providing insight into functional impact on daily and occupational activities.
Educational Psychologist
Educational psychologists assess pre-morbid scholastic potential and the impact of injury or cognitive impairment on learning. Their evaluations determine delays in educational development and the extent to which the claimant can realise their pre-injury potential. Reports include recommendations for educational strategies, interventions, or programs to optimise post-injury learning outcomes.

Earnings Experts
Earnings experts quantify the financial consequences of the injuries and the implications as identified by the clinical and functional experts. They assess past and future loss of earnings, earning capacity, and employability, providing actuarial and vocational opinions to substantiate appropriate compensation.
Industrial Psychologist
Industrial psychologists assess the impact of injury on employability and earning capacity. Their evaluations consider the claimant’s functional limitations and career prospects, comparing pre-injury and post-injury potential. Reports quantify future loss of earnings and provide objective guidance for compensation and rehabilitation planning.
Actuary
An actuary quantifies the estimated present value of a claimant’s loss of earnings following injury. This involves determining the difference between the claimant’s pre-morbid and post-morbid income, while applying appropriate contingency deductions based on the findings of the industrial psychologist. The actuary’s report provides a detailed, objective financial assessment that reflects the impact of the injury on the claimant’s economic capacity and supports accurate compensation calculations.
